Pipe Welder

Labor One is currently hiring pipe welders in San Diego, CA at a shipyard.$160 per diem, if eligible.

Job requirements:

• Three years of experience in welding
• Knowledge of welding procedures and various types of welding equipment
• Proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc, SMAW and flux-core, tig welding and air arc skills
• Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English)
• Ability to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
• Must pass a background check, vision test and drug test
• Ability to work any shift and overtime

Pipe welding assessment:

• FCAW Fillet weld plates: 2F 3F 4F (VT test)
• Steel backing butt joint 6X6 3/8" thick: 2G 3G 4G (VT and UT test)
• Butt joint with ceramic backing 12X8 ¾" thick: 1G 2G 3G (VT and UT test)
• Simulation: Wraps 2F 3F 36" in length, Diagonal 3F 4F 36" in length, In and out corners 2F 4F 6", Water tight collar, Air arc fillet welds (VT testing)
• GTAW Pipe welding assessment 6G position - 2.5 "copper nickel pipe butt joint schedule 40 (VT and bent test), 5F, 4F position - 3" copper nickel pipe sleeve 200 (VT and macro etch test), 5F, 4F position - 1" mild steel pipe schedule socket weld 40 (VT and macro etch test)
