Pay Rate: $26–$30/hour (depending on experience)

Job Overview

A well‐established utility construction organization is seeking experienced Utilities Locators to support underground utility projects in the Powhatan, VA area. This role is responsible for locating and marking existing underground utilities prior to horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and pullback installations. The Utilities Locator plays a critical role in ensuring job site safety, accuracy, and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Locate, identify, and mark underground utilities within assigned project areas
• Support HDD and pullback operations by providing accurate utility location data
• Review utility maps, drawings, and records to understand site layouts
• Communicate findings clearly with field crews, project managers, and site leadership
• Follow all safety standards, project requirements, and local regulations
• Maintain accurate documentation of utility markings and findings
• Work closely with construction crews to ensure safe excavation activities

Requirements

• 2–3 years of hands‐on utility locating experience
• Experience working around underground utilities including gas, electric, telecom, water, and sewer
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Ability to follow safety protocols and project standards
