Job Description

Hourly Pay Range: $57.76 - $80.86 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) - Neonatology Location: Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, IL Full Time/Part Time: Part‑Time (average of 20 hours per week) or Full‑Time (average of 40 hours per week) Hours: Unit staffed 24/7, hours flexible Required Travel: n/a Sign‑On Bonus Eligible for experienced candidates Elmhurst Hospital is a Level IIe Special Care Nursery with over 3000 annual births. The Department of Neonatology is seeking a Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) or neonatal pediatric hospitalist to work collaboratively with a neonatologist, and also independently. The role requires critical judgment in delivery room resuscitation, common newborn diagnoses and management, and specialized long‑term care for late preterm infants. Qualifications and Licensure License: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant Associate (PAA) licensure in the State of IL; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required Education: Completion of a master’s level program in a specialty area Certification: BLS for Healthcare Provider and NRP certifications required Specialty Certification: NCC certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner; Certificate of completion from neonatal PA fellowship Experience: 5+ years of interventional neonatal care (highly preferred); other relevant acute‑care pediatric experience preferred Special Knowledge and Skills Required Newborn airway management, including intubation Central line placement (umbilical and PCVC) Newborn chest tube placement Equipment Utilized within the Scope of the Position Stethoscope Monitors Small baby equipment Flow inflating bag Ventilators – HFJV, HFOV, cMV, NIMV, iNO, etc. Sterile procedures Therapeutic hypothermia Responsibilities Provide appropriate medical care to newborn patients in L&D, newborn nursery, and intensive care unit during scheduled shifts under the supervision of a physician. Maintain an adequate medical record for each patient seen and treated during each shift. Perform procedural tasks as needed (PPV, intubation, central lines, chest tubes, etc.). Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care. Collaborate in the development, review, and evaluation of policies and procedures. Participate in developing and implementing quality improvement monitoring. Serve as a resource for clinical skills for staff. Understand the opportunity to participate in clinical research.
