Manager of Safety and Security

Full-time | Exempt

Salary Range: $92,000-$95,000

About the Role

Wilshire Boulevard Temple is seeking an experienced Manager of Safety and Security to lead day-to-day safety and security operations at the Glazer Campus, and Brawerman East Schools with primary responsibility for Audrey Irmas Pavilion (AIP) events and programming. This role provides direct leadership to security personnel assigned to the campus and events, oversees emergency preparedness and response, and ensures consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.

This position plays a critical leadership role in protecting people, property, and operations in a high-visibility, public-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Campus & Event Security Leadership

  • Lead safety and security operations at the Glazer Campus, with a focus on AIP events
  • Manage and deploy security staff assigned to campus operations and events
  • Provide on-scene leadership during high-risk events, emergencies, and incidents
  • Serve as the primary security point of contact for Glazer Campus and AIP event stakeholders

Event Risk & Planning

  • Conduct security planning and coordination for AIP and other Glazer Campus events
  • Support event risk assessments and implement required mitigation measures
  • Coordinate access control, crowd management, and post coverage for events
  • Ensure compliance with established security procedures for all events

Policies, Procedures & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce Wilshire Boulevard Temple security policies, SOPs, and access control protocols
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for emergency response procedures
  • Ensure all security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms) remain operational
  • Monitor compliance with California laws and BSIS regulations

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Coordinate emergency response and alarm activity with the Global Security Operations Center
  • Participate in planning and execution of emergency drills at the Glazer Campus
  • Maintain on-call availability and respond to after-hours incidents as needed

People Management & Development

  • Supervise security officers and supervisors assigned to the campus and events
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and corrective action when required
  • Ensure all staff certifications and training requirements remain current

Administrative & Resource Management

  • Assist with staffing schedules for campus operations and events
  • Oversee uniforms, equipment, and security resources for assigned areas
  • Review and approve incident reports and documentation
  • Maintain positive working relationships with local law enforcement and fire agencies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California BSIS Guard Card
  • Valid BSIS Firearms Permit
  • Baton, Tear Gas, and TASER certifications
  • PC 832 Arrest & Firearms certifications
  • SB 1626 School Security Course completion
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certified
  • Strong knowledge of California laws and BSIS regulations
  • Clean background check and driving record
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to stand or remain on post for extended periods
  • Ability to physically restrain or detain individuals when required
  • Ability to participate in defensive tactics and firearms training
