About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Security and Safety to lead its security and safety function. The successful candidate will be the most senior member of management in this area, responsible for the security and safety of a large campus facility and off-campus properties. This role involves overseeing a substantial security and safety team, including over 150 security officers, gallery attendants, and third-party providers. The Head of Security and Safety will also be in charge of a significant personnel and operating budget, and must ensure 24/7 operations that include securing all properties, providing services to visitors and staff, and maintaining a rapid response capability for emergencies. A key aspect of the role is to cultivate strong, respectful relationships with local law enforcement and other security professionals, as well as to ensure that security and safety team members serve as a welcoming presence for patrons. The ideal candidate will have a security, safety, and patron services mindset, with a focus on proactive measures to protect the art and facilities. The approach to security in this environment is akin to that of a large luxury resort, performing arts facility, or similar venue, where a welcoming and light touch is combined with a deep structure and professionalism. The Head of Security and Safety must be adept at managing security-related technologies and be prepared to handle the unique challenges of a high-traffic, urban environment.
